Color My Heart Color Dare #81

Color My Heart Color Dare #81

Where oh where is Spring?   As I was playing with the colors for this week's dare, Juniper, Sunset, and Blush, I came up with this idea.  I love these trees, so I wanted to use those at least one more time before Spring really does arrive.  Boy, won't we be ready this year?
Colors were sponged on the card.  I used Whisper ink on the snow mounds.
For other great examples using these colors, check here: http://colormyheartcolordare.blogspot.com/

Here's another card I played around with this afternoon.  The sunset feather could be repositioned a little better in my next copy of this card, but I do like this as it could be used for a masculine card.  I used CTMH alcohol markers in addition to stamping on the bottom two feathers.  The top (Blush) feather is popped, however, that doesn't show on this photo. I used the CTMH Stitch Guide and foam mat to punch holes and then used markers for the  faux stitching on this card.
Hope we find Spring soon!

Oh, what fun it is to make

 your own Valentine's!

Last Saturday, I was pleased to host some very creative kids who made their own Valentine's.  It was so much fun to work with them and see all their creativity.  I just gave some basic ideas and had some samples ready, showed them a few tips about stamping neatly and away they were off and creating for 3 hours.

Even some of the grandmas and aunties who came along had time to be creative too.
Thank you to all who came.
Hope you had as much fun as I did watching and helping all of you.

Time for another Color My Heart Color Dare

This week's featured colors are Creme Brulee, Goldrush, Olive, and Twilight.

For this card I used cuts from the CTMH Art Philosophy cartridge, some retired creme brulee ribbon, and some sparkles from the brown/tan collection.  The sparkles match the Goldrush.  I also used the CTMH alcohol markers to color in the word birthday.

To see other great ideas to make with this color combination go to www.colormyheartcolordare.blogspot.com/2014/01/color-dare-79-creme-brulee-goldrush.html

Oh, and by the way, I was lucky enough to win a prize for entering the January Color Dare.  Still waiting to see what it will be.  A big thank you goes out to all the designers and gals who sponsor this color dare each week.  I've been inspired and having fun with it.

Friday Mash Up Challenge

Well, here's another card that came together rather quickly using the sketch from Friday Mash Up.   I used paper from the new CTMH Lollydoodle paper pack.

The stamp set is from the CTMH Artiste collection and the sponged hearts are from the Art Philosphy cartridge.   I used the larger of the two hearts to sponge the background hearts on white cardstock.  The colors are Cotton Candy and Slate.  Cotton Candy polka dot washi tape was also used.

Here's the sketch I used.

Color My Heart - Color Dare Challenge #78

Working with various card challenges over the past few weeks has really made card designing a lot more fun for me.  I am using my stash of supplies and lots of ideas I have been seeing on Pinterest.  For this color dare I was able to use some really "vintage" CTMH B&T paper from my first years of being a consultant (almost 10 years now).

Hollyhock and Indian Corn Blue have always been some of my favorite colors, but I haven't used them too much lately.   So this was fun.    See the link for this challenge here http://colormyheartcolordare.blogspot.com/

Playing with color, chevrons, and washi tape

Atlantic Hearts Challenge Sketch #39

I've been looking through my cards and realized that I could use more cards that might be appropriate for those who aren't the floral or fancy-fussy card type.  So I played with the colors suggested in this week's Color My Heart Color Dare#77 and the sketch for the Atlantic Hearts Challenge #39.  Several colors would not have been the choices I would have put together, but I do like they way they look here.  (CTMH colors: Smokey Plum, Cranberry,  Sunset, Honey,  Juniper)   I was too late to post to the Color Dare Challenge, but I enjoyed playing with the colors.
I will be offering this as a card to make at my February 11 card workshop.
