This month we are featuring a cute, whimsical stamp set that will be fun for card making or scrapbooking.  Even though it has Halloween sentiments, there are many other possibilities that I'm sure you'll see as you make your rounds on this blog hop.    It's one big circle of ideas, as you go from blog to blog.  If you are starting here, just look for the link at the end of my post to see where to go for the next stop.  If you are coming from Dana Kesslers's blog, you are on the right path. 

I've been waiting to work with a stamp with some open space to try a little Zentangle - which is a brand name for doodling patterns.  I'm sure there's more to it, and obviously I have a lot more to learn about Zentangle, but I just decided to give it a try with this stamp set.  I also used another stamp set to create one of my cards to incorporate the look of the latest coloring craze.

On this card, I used the Ornate Blossoms Stamp set (D1687) to create the coloring book type pattern.  I stamped the cat in black first, then I stamped the pattern with Bamboo ink.  Next came the journaling pen to trace the pattern, and then fussy cutting the kitty to put her on the card.  Her eyes and the other embellishments on this card are Bitty Sparkles.  Oh, yes, and did you notice the new paper and ribbon.  It's from our brand new idea book, just released today!

The kitty on this card is filled in with  my own doodles as is the border.

Cardstock - Black

Patterned Paper - Adventure Fundamentals - Tangerine and Pansy.  (Background display paper is Willow.)

Pens and Pencils - CTMH Water color pencil was used to outline the letters on the first card and the journaling pen that CTMH offers

Inks:  Momento Black, Bamboo 

Embellishments - Bitty Sparkles and Black with Gold edged ribbon is from the the new Uptown Ribbon Pack

If you are coming from Lisa Plummer's blog you're on the right path.

For August, the stamp of the month is a great greeting set, Framed, with 12 stamps 

that will be useful for many events throughout the year.  Notice the red lines around the frames.  You know what that means? ---- the shapes are compatible with our newest CTMH Cricut Cartridge - Artistry. 

The cards I'm featuring this month use background pieces that we created in a technique workshop I hosted in July.  The backgrounds of the first two sets of cards were made by using a brayer to ink the inside of a CTMH embossing folder.  Notice that the first card has an embossed design and the second has the debossed design. 

The second card with the debossing had some of the Glacier ink in between the depressions.  I swiped the card stock with the Sweet Leaf ink pad just because I like those two colors together.  The materials used on these cards were the Quatrefoil Embossing Folder, Cricut cuts from the Art Philosophy Collection, and Silver sequins colored with the Black ShinHan marker.

Materials used on these cards - Heart Embossing Folder, Black shimmer trim, Tender Pink ShinHan marker, and Clear Sparkles.

With this third set, wax paper was used with CTMH embossing folders to create a resist technique. The first embossing folder used the Quatrefoil and the second used the Dot embossing folder. 

To accomplish this techhnique:

Materials needed

• Wax paper
• 2 pieces of regular white card stock
• Hot iron
• Copy paper for pressing with the iron
• Paper toweling
• Ink pads
• Cuddlebug or other embossing machine and embossing folder

1. Put wax paper in embossing folder and run through an embossing machine
2.  Sandwich the embossed wax paper between two pieces of regular card stock
3. Place your "sandwich" between clean copy paper
4.  Press with hot, dry (no steam) iron
5. Use the card stock that faced the wax paper and apply ink direct to paper (swiping ink pad across paper)  Discard wax paper
6. Wipe excess ink off with paper toweling and continue making card

Remember, this great stamp set is only available during the month of August.  

The thing I love about it is it can be used year round with for so many different occasions. 

 I'm looking forward to using on some of my Christmas cards this year.

This month we are featuring What A Hoot stamp set with 17 stamps.  What a fun and whimsical set to work with for cards, layouts, or other creative projects!  There are so many ways to give each owl its own personality with varying googly eyes or by dressing it up.  This stamp set is also great for coloring with our fantastic new markers or for paper piecing.

This month I paired this stamp set with a new paper kit, Pathfinding to create a fun layout to use when the I capture the grandkids' delight when playing in the Fall leaves.  

First, I stamped the owls on the Champagne card stock, then I stamped the owls on Pathfinding B&T papers to paper piece each one.  The wings and hats were popped with dimensional tape.

Materials used:

Paper:  All found in the Pathfinding Kit  - X7186B 

Inks: Chocolate, Autumn Terracotta

ShinHan Touch Twin Markers:  Turqoise Blue Z2465,  Marigold Z2457, and Mahogany Z2456

Shimmer Trim - Bronze -Z1849
Acorns and leaves were cut from Barn Red, Autumn Terracotta, and Champagne card stock using the Art Philosphy Cricut Cartridge.
