In this blog hop, we are sharing examples of work using stamps/thin cuts that are a part of this Stamptacular sale.  Enjoy the ideas!

Flowers on the birdhouse are colored with colored pencils and a white gel pen.  The flowers around the border are lightly shaded using a shimmer brush.

The background on this card is shaded using Tattered Rose Distress Oxide ink and misted water.  The flowers were colored with Tri-Blend alcohol markers

The background is vellum paper which was colored with Tri-Blend Markers and then 91% alcohol was dripped to help spread the ink.  The images were stamped on top of the vellum with Archival Ink and then colored with colored pencils.

The image was stamped with Intense Black ink on ordinary white tissue (wrapping) paper and colored with alcohol markers.  When dry, the tissue paper was balled up and then umcrumpled.  The tissue paper was then glued to white daisy cardstock using a glue stick and gently applied to the cardstock so as to maintain the textured background.  Shimmer brush was added to the center of each blossom and then flicked a bit over the background.

March Stamp of the Month Blog Hop - Winged Masterpiece

Welcome
Glad you could join us today! If this is your first blog hop, know that it is just one big loop of crafty, fun ideas for paper crafting as you visit each of the connected blogs.  If you are coming from Krista's blogyou are on the right path.  If you are starting here, just look for the link at the end of my post to Kristine's blog (and successive posts) to see which blog to visit next.

Winged Masterpiece is a beautiful set for creating beautiful cards, embllishing scrapbook pages, or using in mixed media artwork.

For my projects this month, I made some cards using vellum, Distress Oxide inks, and Tri-blend alcohol markers.

For this card, I used the Tri-blend markers and  dabbed some 91% alcohol on the back side of a piece of vellum to get the alcohol colors to run and create the background sheet for this card.  I used a stamping platform and CTMH Intense Black Ink to to  stamp the butterfly on the front side of the vellum.  I gave the ink a few minutes to dry.  I then used colored pencils from my stash to color in  the flowers on the butterfly on the top side of the vellum.

For the background on this card, I used Peacock Fathers Distress Oxide ink.  First, I rubbed the ink on my All Purpose Mat and spritzed it with water.  Next, I sprayed one of our stencils and put it down on the ink on my mat, and then put the stencil down on White Daisy cardstock,  The dragonfly was stamped using Intense Black ink and then colored in the flowers using various pastel Tri-blend alcohol markers.

Here's a closer look at the dragonfly where you can see I added sparkles to the center of many of the flowers.  I colored the sparkles using my Tri-blend alcohol markers.  I added Diamond stickles to the center "webbed" area of the dragonfly.  Unfortunately, my photography does not show off the beauty of this dragonfly.

I used the same method of preparing the vellum as I did on the first card.  I then fussy cut the butterfly and attached it to the White Daisy cardstock using Tombow mono multi liquid glue.

In this close-up, you will see I added some sparkles that I colored with the alcohol markers and some Liquid Pearls to the centers of the flowers.

--------------------------------------------------------

Lately I have been exploring the world of mixed media and art journaling.  I'm not completely happy with the final outcome  and composition of this project, however, we all have to start somewhere in new art forms, so I thought I'd share my trials with you.

I used many of the same techniques and materials I used on my cards.  A few additional supplies I played with on this were Dina Wakley Media Fuchsia glossy spray and Asteroid Stickles Glitter Gel.  The netting I used for some extra texture is dry wall tape that I rubbed with black ink.  The large flowers were die-cut from vellum using the 3D Thin Cuts and colored on the backside with alcohol markers and then dabbed with 91% alcohol to make the colors run and blend.  All the colored inks are Distress Oxide Inks.

Winged Masterpiece  is available only through the month of March. After seeing all the great ideas in this blog hop, you're going to want to add this stamp of the month to your collection.  Remember, those of you who signed up as one of my VIP customers and purchase $50 or more, get this stamp set FREE in addition to many other perks of being a VIP customer.  Otherwise you can purchase this set for $18.95, or get it for only $5 with a qualifying order of $50(US) through your Close To My Heart  Maker or you can find it here.
